Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment

The State of Texas requires all NON-EXEMPT (TSI Exemptions) incoming students to complete the mandatory TSI Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) and then to take the TSI Assessment test before registering for classes. TSI exams are administered by the Testing Services Office to meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements. For more information about the TSI Assessment, view the TSI Assessment Student Informational Brochure.

The total cost to take the TSI is $60.00; individual sections may be taken at a cost of $25.00 each.

Identification Requirements:

On the day of the test you should report to the General Services Complex, Suite 1101, 15 minutes prior to your scheduled test session. In addition, you must provide one of the following forms of identification: a driver's license, Texas A&M student ID, passport, Texas Department of Public Safety identification card, or current alien resident's card to be admitted to the test. Your identification must be unexpired and include a photo.

Exam Length:

The test has three separate sections, Math, Writing, and Reading. This exam has no time limit.

Score Reports:

You will receive a score report immediately after the exam. Scores will also be provided to the Academic Success Center if you are enrolling at Texas A&M. If you need to send the scores to a different institution, please bring the FAX number for the receiving institution to your exam and we will send the scores on your behalf.

If you are not satisfied with your results, you may retake the TSI Assessment at any time. However, before you attempt to retest, it is strongly recommended that you set aside time for additional study.
