College Level Exam Program (CLEP) exams are offered for undergraduate students who want to earn college credit. Any of the tests offered by the CLEP program may be taken at our center but only the following exams earn credit at Texas A&M University:
- American Government
- College Algebra
- Financial Accounting
- U.S. History I
- U.S. History II
- Human Growth and Development
- Information Systems
- Macroeconomics, Principles of
- Microeconomics, Principles of
- Psychology, Introductory
- Sociology, Introductory
- Western Civilization I: Ancient Near East to 1648
- Western Civilization II: 1648 to Present
Note: Students wishing to 'retest' must wait 3 months from prior exam date to retake the same exam.
Foreign Language Credit:
Texas A&M Univeristy can accept credit for a foreign langauge if taken through FLATS at BYU.
After purchasing the test, it can be sent to our location and you will need to schedule a day and time with us and pay the proctoring fee.

Eligibility for Credit by Examination:
• Students may not receive CLEP credit for courses that are prerequisites to courses for which they already have credit except with the approval of the department authorizing the examination. (Student Rule 8.6.10)
• Students may not have credit posted for Credit by examination for a course in which he or she is currently registered or has acquired a grade other than Q, WP, or NG. (Student Rule 8.6.4)
• Students who previously excluded a course grade under the Freshman Grade Exclusion Policy are not eligible to receive CLEP credit for that course.

Exams are 90 minutes and you have the options of 9:00am, 11:00am, and 2:00pm on Monday - Thursdays to take your exam
or the option of 9:00am on Fridays.
Please have a preferred date and time ready when registering.
Prior to your scheduled exam, you must create an account at collegeboard.org,
select the CLEP exam you wish to take.
You will receive a voucher with a ticket number that you must bring
to the test center on the day of the exam in order for staff to access your exam.
The CLEP exam fee on collegeboard.org is $89.00
*IMPORTANT* Effective July 01.2022, the new CLEP exam fee will be $90.00.
TAMU students: The non-refundable registration fee is $35.00
Non-TAMU students: The non-refundable registration fee is $50.00
All fees are due at the time of registration and are non-refundable
The Day Of Your Exam:
After Your Exam:
You will receive an unofficial score report. Official scores will post to your student record approximately a week from your exam date.
What To Bring:
You will need to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled test session with a government issued ID that is unexpired with a photo and a signature (driver’s license, passport, Texas Department of Public Safety identification card, or current alien resident’s card). A student ID is NOT an acceptable ID for this test. You will also need to bring your ticket from collegeboard.
Without an acceptable ID and your ticket from collegeboard, you cannot test.
To claim credit:
Log in to the Howdy portal at howdy.tamu.edu using your NetID and password. Click on the My Dashboard and navigate to 'My Records' tab, then find the section labeled Grades and transcripts. Follow the link labeled Credit by Examination to access the instructions for claiming credit
If you see N/A next to your credit:
You are not in the correct tab. You will see "N/A" next to your credit when you are under the Applicant tab. To accept credit, you will need to look under the My Records tab which is located in My Dashboard.
If you see your credit but it is not allowing you to accept it:
Undergraduate Students: You may be enrolled or registered for the class you are trying to accept credit for. You will need to drop the class and then email our office at email@example.com with your name, UIN, and what credit you want accepted.
Graduate Students: Full-time Graduate Students are not eligible for CLEP credit. You will not be able to accept the credit. You will need to email our office at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and UIN for questions.
